How it plays
You pick a rhyme scheme — AABB, ABAB, AAAA or ABCB — and a beat. The bars scroll past in time with the music and the end-word of each bar is handed to you, colour-coded so you can see which bars have to rhyme with each other. You rap the rest.
How much help you get
- All words — every beat of the bar is filled in. The easiest way in.
- Last only — just the rhyme on the four, which is where a rapper lands the end-word anyway.
- First only — you are given the opening and have to carry the bar yourself.
- No words — the scheme and the beat, nothing else.
Rounds run 8, 16, 32 or 64 bars. On faster beats the pace halves automatically so a bar still has room to rap in.
Rhymes are judged on pronunciation rather than spelling, so love and move are correctly rejected however alike they look, and eight and late are accepted however different they look.
